Catoosa County Public Schools

A Georgia Charter System

Title I, Part A - Family Engagement

Overview

The Every Student Succeeds Act or ESSA, ensures commitment to equal opportunity for all students. ESSA outlines a strong focus on Parent and Family Engagement. Parent and Family Engagement is an ongoing process that increases active participation, communication, and collaboration between parents, schools, and communities with the goal of educating the whole child to ensure student academic achievement and success. In Catoosa County, parents and families of students who attend Title I schools have influence over many aspects of their child’s education, and how and what parent and family engagement looks like. This partnership between Catoosa County Schools and the parents and family members ensures the following:

  • That parents and families play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning.
  • That parents and families are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education.
  • That parents and families are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their children.
  • That parents and families may request regular meetings.
  • That other activities, such as those described in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), are done.

How to Get Involved

All parents and families are invited each year to provide suggestions and ideas to improve the district’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy. Notifications for these annual meetings are posted on the district and school websites, as well as communicated through ParentSquare, the CCPS county-wide parent communication application. If you would like to provide suggestions for the district’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy, you can do the following:

  • Print and fill out the document linked here and submit it to your school’s parent engagement coordinator (PIC).
  • Speak to your school's parent engagement coordinator.
  • Email your suggestions to Kristy Jablonski, one of our district level parent engagement coordinators, at kjablonski@catoosa.k12.ga.us
  • Attend a School Improvement Meeting in the spring
    • Each Title I school will host a Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting for parents, family members, and community members to participate in round table discussions. Check your school’s newsletters, emails/texts, and website for information on the date and time for your school’s meeting.
