Early Intervention Program

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a state-funded instructional program.  The purpose of EIP is to serve students in grades K-5 who are at-risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level in reading and/or mathematics. 

Students who perform below grade level expectations on local (standards-based report cards, easyCBM reading screener, and i-Ready math diagnostic) and state assessments (Georgia Milestones or Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills) are identified and provided additional instructional resources and support to enable them to obtain the necessary academic skills to reach grade level performance in the shortest possible time. 

Services are provided in a variety of models: an augmented instructional co-teaching model where the EIP teacher comes into the classroom and works collaboratively to serve EIP students in small groups;  an innovative model where the number of students is lower than other classrooms and specific supports are put in place to provide supplemental instruction; and the pull-out model where EIP students work in a small group with the EIP teacher outside of the regular classroom to address their learning needs.  

Parents are notified of the identification of service through an EIP letter.  EIP student performance is monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure that students are making progress or to recommend additional support services that may be needed.
