A Georgia Charter System

System Budget Information

System Budget Information

A school system’s budget serves as an operational plan, stated in financial terms, for carrying out the mission of the school district. In accordance with Georgia law and State Board of Education policy, a budget for Catoosa County Public Schools is prepared annually and submitted to the Catoosa County Board of Education for approval.

Budgets must comply with Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.), which outlines financial management for public schools.

School system financials are governed by governmental accounting standards. These standards organize accounting on a fund and function basis, which allows unique tracking of revenues and expenditures for specific purposes. The Catoosa County Board of Education adopts its budget at the function level as summarized below.

The functional levels used for budgetary control are determined by the Georgia Department of Education's chart of accounts and include:

  • Instruction
  • Student Services
  • Improvement of Instructional Services
  • Instructional Staff Training
  • Educational Media Services
  • General Administration
