Nine Schools Receive State Recognition for PBIS Program Excellence

The Georgia Department of Education has recognized nine Catoosa County schools as PBIS Distinguished Schools, the highest level of achievement awarded for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

PBIS is an evidence-based framework designed to create safe, supportive, and effective learning environments by teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors. In Georgia, the PBIS recognition process is aligned with the Georgia Multi-Tiered System of Supports (GaMTSS). Schools earning Distinguished status must not only demonstrate fidelity in implementing PBIS practices but also meet rigorous outcome benchmarks, including measurable reductions in office discipline referrals, in-school suspensions, and out-of-school suspensions.

The following Catoosa County Schools earned the Distinguished recognition:  Battlefield Primary, Boynton Elementary, Graysville Elementary, Lakeview Middle, Ringgold High, Ringgold Middle, Ringgold Primary, Tiger Creek Elementary, and Woodstation Elementary.

Superintendent Chance Nix said,  “I am so proud of our schools that achieved the Distinguished recognition. This honor is the highest level of recognition awarded to schools practicing PBIS and reflects the dedication of our students, staff, and school communities to fostering positive, supportive, and successful learning environments.”

This recognition highlights Catoosa County Public Schools' ongoing commitment to nurturing student growth, promoting positive school climates, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
